When horses suffer from hoof problems, owners are often faced with a difficult choice: hoof bandages are time-consuming to apply and usually designed for single use, while traditional hoof boots are often heavy, inflexible, or unsuitable for sensitive horses. This is exactly where Pegasox comes in.
Founder Annabell Eder is developing Pegasox, an innovative solution for equine hoof protection. The novel hoof sock combines comfort, protection, and ease of use in a single product, bridging the gap between traditional hoof bandages and hoof boots.
Pegasox is a specially knitted textile with proprietary coatings, designed to support horses experiencing acute hoof problems while offering horse owners a simple and practical application.
From personal experience to a startup idea
The idea for Pegasox emerged from a personal challenge. As a horse owner herself, Annabell Eder faced the ongoing issue of her horse’s chronic hoof problems. She found that existing solutions were often uncomfortable for the animal, difficult to apply, or lacked sustainability. Motivated to create a better alternative, she began developing Pegasox.
Support through the Creative Pre-Incubator
Pegasox was selected for the Creative Pre-Incubator (CPI) programme, where it received support through workshops, coaching sessions, and access to a broad network of experts and entrepreneurs. During the programme, the founder worked intensively on product development, market validation, and preparations for market entry.
Success at CPI Demo Day 2025
A major milestone followed at CPI Demo Day 2025, where Pegasox impressed the jury and was recognised as one of the winning projects.
Outlook
Pegasox is currently in an advanced stage of development. The goal is to establish a new generation of hoof protection solutions that combine animal welfare, sustainability, and practical usability. Through her combination of personal experience, innovative product design, and entrepreneurial ambition, Annabell Eder demonstrates how an everyday challenge can evolve into a promising startup venture.
